Hands of Hope Helps was founded by Permon Thomas, an ex-offender himself. GOD called Permon to minister hope to the incarcerated men and women that are experiencing the same hopelessness and loneliness he experienced for so many years in prison.
Permon and the staff and partners of HHH have come together to help men and women become better citizens while they are still incarcerated and have a successful release and abundant life after prison.
Permon learned firsthand how important it was to prepare for life after being behind bars.
After losing his mother at the age of three and having no father figure in his life, Permon chose a life of crime. He was raised on the streets of Miami and experienced abuse. He was filled with anger and rage from an early age, yet embraced his life on the streets and committed crimes to survive. Those choices led him to Juvenile Detention Centers, Okeechobee Boys School, jail, and three stints in prison. In his final prison sentence, Permon served 20 years 7 months on a 30-year (15 mandatory minimum) sentence and was freed on August 1, 2015. Until that last time in prison, it was unusual for him to stay free longer than 4 months at a time and never mor than 8 months.
But GOD had other plans for Permon than the life he had chosen previously. Permon received Jesus in his heart at the beginning of the 30-year sentence in 1996. He began to grow in the Lord and started ministering the gospel to fellow inmates on the prison recreation yards. Permon's dream was to be released and come back to prison as a volunteer, sharing his testimony with the inmates and always returning home in his own clothes, never a new prison uniform.
Today through the grace and mercy of GOD, Permon has been able to walk in his calling to Prison Ministry. Not only has he returned and shared his testimony, he has been able to conduct Worship Services, Bible Studies, and One on One Mentoring.
This year GOD has enlarged Permons territory., he has been able to join others in Nursing Home Ministry, as well as several other projects.
If there is one thing Permon can leave you with, it is there is NOTHING too hard for GOD.
